Delay Is Not Denial

Have you ever been driving in a rush, frustrated because the car in front of you is moving "too slow"? Then you see a traffic cop just ahead. Suddenly, your frustration turns into gratitude. That "slow" car just saved you from a ticket, or something worse.

In Nigeria, there's a saying: delay is not denial.

As we close out this year, many of us are still waiting for that job offer, that promotion, that breakthrough. It's been a brutal job market, and it's easy to feel like you're stuck behind a slow car.

But sometimes, those missed opportunities are simply slowing you down to protect you from a "traffic ticket" you couldn't see yet. That "perfect" role might have come with the wrong culture. That company might be planning layoffs. That position might have pulled you off your long-term path.

The delay may be doing more for you than you realize.

So if you're ending this year without the outcome you hoped for, don't be too discouraged. Keep refining your approach, building your skills, and putting yourself out there. Your moment is coming. The road didn't end. It might just be clearing up for something better ahead.
